He who throws a rock in a glass house gets arrested
Talking to a police officer is like standing in a glass house with a rock in your hand. You can take it two ways you can show no respect and throw the rock or you can accept what is happening and try to get out of it with the utmost respect and put the rock down. This will keep the whole situation from crashing down on top of you. A few tips when talking to a police officer are when talking to him you refer to him as officer not a cop, a pig, or any other name that shows the lack of respect you have for them. If you’re talking to a state trooper then refer to him as trooper. You have to remember no matter how much you disagree they are the law and arguing the fact will not help the situation but give them more reason and want to put you in the back of the car. Well talking to them the best thing you can do is agree whatever you did was wrong apologize and try to ease the situation down. If he isn’t upset he will listen with more reason and give you the chance to talk and possible let you go depending on the crime. When asked a question you keep eye contact like you would if you were talking to your parents. You don’t avoid the question and try to go off on something else if it’s asked they are expecting the answer. Also lying is another big thing not to do chances are they know why they are doing what they are doing and are asking you to see how you respond and if they don’t know they can probably find out. If they find out you’re a liar then you might as well through the cuffs on your self because at that point anything you say after that will go in one of his ears and out the other. Now I am not saying incriminate yourself but if it’s an obvious question like have you been drinking then don’t lie because they know if you are and if they don’t they can find out anyways. Treating the situation in this manner will not always get you off but it can help you in court that the cop doesn’t think your some punk and really try to screw you. The last thing is remain calm because it will help with your body language and if you’re not already in cuffs chances are what you did was not that bad. So the trouble you get in wont be as bad as you think at the time I have seen people only get probation for thing they thought they where going to jail for. But if what you did was bad enough that its definitely putting you away then none of this will help and you should have either ran or ran a whole lot quicker.

Seems like good advice to take into acknowledgement. Even if you stay completely calm and show respect, they can still seem as if they are out to get you sometimes.
ReplyDeletethis i j.reyes. I think people dont realize that if you get angry and start screaming at a police officer, you can only lose. There is no winning when u argue, maybe with ur friends and family but tha po will shut u down. I think running from tha cops can be stupid too, but i cant say i wouldnt depending on tha situation. Anyways, the way i see it, 5.0 screws you from all angles.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree. Confrontations by the police can be handled so much easier if your not mouthing off to the officer. Like you said, they will just think your some punk ass teenager. Composure is everything too, acting nervous is how people get caught.
